ACCESSIBILITY
The Atomium is visited in 2 parts:
- the Panorama, by lift
- the exhibitions, by escalators and stairs (80 steps up and 167 down in several stages)
Due to the architectural complexity of the building, access for wheelchair users is limited to the Panorama, which is accessible by lift. The other spheres of the Atomium are only accessible by escalators (very steep) and stairs, which is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Caution
The lift may cause dizziness and perception problems, it is not recommended for people sensitive to this.
Several escalators and temporary exhibitions (sound and light) in the Atomium incorporate lighting effects into their design. These stroboscopic lighting effects can be disturbing and even uncomfortable for some people.
Toilets
Adapted toilets for people with reduced mobility are available at the back of the ticket pavilion.
More information about accessibility at the Atomium is available on Access-i.be.
